Three winners in a week, including first winner by Milk It Mick, for the son of the Horsemen’s Group Chairman
Scott Dixon, a new recruit to the training ranks, has enjoyed a tremendous start to his career with three winners from his first nine runners. At 24, he is currently the youngest licensed trainer in Britain.

Dixon saddled his first runner, Sir Geoffrey, on December 21 at Wolverhampton and six days later, Man Of My Word, owned and bred by Dixon’s parents Paul and Yvette at their Haygarth House Stud in Retford, became his first winner when scoring over six furlongs at Southwell. The victory was made even sweeter by the fact that Man Of My Word was also the first winner for the Dixons’ Dewhurst Stakes winner Milk It Mick, who now stands in France at Haras de la Foret.
“We’re thrilled with the start Scott’s made,” said Paul Dixon, the Chairman of the Horsemen’s Group and former President of the ROA. “He’s been here assisting Dandy Nicholls for the last year when the yard was run as Dandy’s satellite operation but Scott’s now had his licence for a few weeks and Gary Moss has stayed on as his assistant so it’s been a seamless transition.”
The stable struck again at Southwell on December 29, this time with Cadeaux Pearl, who won over five furlongs, while Even Stevens, another Dixon family homebred, got 2012 off to a good start for the young trainer with his new year’s day victory, also at his local Nottinghamshire all-weather track.
Dixon added: “Scott’s got more than 40 horses in training, about a dozen of which are two-year-olds, and though he’s training here at Haygarth House it’s very much a public stable and there are about 30 different owners involved with the yard.”
